The students, who were representatives of two student organizations, thanked the board for its support and explained what effect the student organizations can have.
Putnam Career and Technical Center Principal Mike Irwin explained to the board that participation in student organizations is required as part of the career and technical education curriculum statewide.
The school has two organizations: Health Occupation Students Association, or HOSA, and Skills USA. Both are national organizations with local chapters that hold national, regional and state competitions each year.
